Hydrode

Green hydrogen is one of the most important pillars for a sustainable energy landscape in the next decade, and alkaline water electrolysis is so far the most mature industrial section for green hydrogen production. However, the efficiency of alkaline water electrolyzers (AWEs) is still limited to below 70% and the price is still much higher than nonrenewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. Our project focuses on enhancing the AWE efficiency and reducing the cost through scalable surface microengineering of the nickel electrodes. This innovation responds to boost the development of the cleanest renewable resource for a carbon-neutral future, which has broad potential customers ranging from academic researchers to energy companies seeking hydrogen-related solutions.
